Get a lil Cap’n in ya!

September 19th, 2010 by Grubmeyer

I sat down for breakfast with the kiddos this morning, tummies a rumblin’, we all decided Cap’n Crunch sounded delicious. Cereal in bowls, milk on top, and spoon in hand. We all dug in to enjoy the Crunch Berry goodness that await us.

While the kids enjoyed scooping down spoonful after spoonful of this wonderful treat, I reminisced and remembered why I had quit eating this cereal so many years ago. After just the first bite, I knew I was doomed. I had done the inevitable and scraped the roof of my mouth.

After all these years, one would think that they (Quaker Oat Company) could figure out the right combination of ingredients that would allow for delicious cereal without this dreadful side effect. I understand their desire for producing a cereal that stays crunchy in milk, however that which I do not understand is why after all these years of people complaining of said roof scrapage, the formula for the cereal still remains the same. I guess I could always develop a new way of eating this cereal or invent some kind of spoon that helps prevent this from happening. But the what would there to be to blog about.

Chances are I’ll give up Cap’n Crunch for a couple years then something will inspire me to purchase a box for some breakfast enjoyment. Then after my first bite I’ll remember why I don’t often eat this cereal.

P.S. What ever happened to the cereal box toys?
